My first exposure to photography was using my dad’s Nikon RD2, which he still owns. Handling the camera was a mystery and film development was quite costly back in the days so it was a long time before I owned my first camera.
I always joked about having a photographic memory where I can remember as long as I had taken a photo because they are used as my semantic markers. I had the Canon A310, Sony S600 and Fujifilm F70 EXR, which were what my budget allowed. That said, I used these compact cameras so frequently to capture everything from the mundane to travel experiences that the lens retraction mechanism stopped working. My mindset was that I should take as many photos as possible while I can so by the over-ripe and forgetful age I would still have the records for reminiscence.
